I've never had any real success growing potatoes, but this year, I am going to give it my all!
My great grandfather had this philosophy that potatoes must be planted on March 17th, St Patricks Day every year or they will not produce the yield that he wanted.
I would like to give that a try but seeing as how today is March 6th and we have 5-6 inches of snow on the ground, I don't see how that is going to work out. I sure wish I would have tilled them up a spot last fall but live and learn I guess.
When do you plant your potatoes in the ground? Just leave me a comment so that we can all learn how to grow potaotes with great success!

Growing your own tomatoes can save you lots of money overall in your garden. Just starting your own tomato plants and not spending the $$$ on the actual plants will give you more $$$ to buy new and interesting plants that you have been wanting to try.
It's time to start thinking about getting those tomato plants growing, Spring will be here before you know it.

Gardening Advice for the Novice
Hello and welcome to my gardening blog. I swore I was going to start this blog last year but didn't get around to it. I did take lots of pictures of my own garden last year and documented the progress and growth habits of all of my different vegetables in the garden.
While I wait on the weather to warm up and settle here in the midwest, I will be able to share those pictures of my garden and talk a bit about what I liked the best about each plant.
Look forward to gardening how to articles and some good old fashioned gardening advice.
I hope that some of my readers will send me pictures of their own gardens so that I can share them here as well.
